Consequences of Crime

Continuing the partnership with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office created in 1980, ECCC PTA is proud to host and coordinate this educational field trip to the Cobb County Work Release Center, which was developed by past ECCC PTA President Margie Hatfield.  The objective of the program is to provide an educational activity that directly helps students understand the consequences involved with making wrong choices and to develop peer leaders.
Select 5th, 7th, & 8th graders and high school students visit the jail on an assigned date between September and April.  Consequences of Crime varies by grade level with a focus on shoplifting, smoking, alcohol/drugs, or drinking and driving.  During the two-hour visit, Sheriff’s Office representatives discuss with students the potential consequences of choices and the end results of crime.
ECCC PTA is indebted to the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office for making this unique program available to our students.
