More information will follow as we create new resources for the ECCC PTA's newest committee, Exceptional Students. If you have questions, please email committee chair, Tina Engberg at
Exceptional Students Committees.....Why?
Your PTA may or may not have an Exceptional Students Committee. If your school does, awesome! You're helping parents from a particular segment of your school connect to the PTA and be involved in your school community.
If your school doesn't, why not? I would like to encourage your PTA Board to take a look at your Exceptional Student population and work with your administration to identify parents in that population who can help work with the PTA to develop a committee. It's a great way to build a bridge from your PTA to a group of parents who may otherwise not feel connected to the school community. Activities your Exceptional Students Committee might do may include working with event volunteers to make school wide events more inclusive; host information sessions with your administration or bring outside speakers in; participate in Exceptional Students Week programming; communicating broader community events through your Email blasts; creating bulletin boards for the halls, etc.
If you don't have a committee and would like to discuss how to make that happen, please let me know.
